Half-way on the motorway north, make a stop for coffee. After passing Caen, head to Arromanches to visit the remains of the artificial harbor that the Allies built in England and towed to France. Here, we will watch the documentary "The Price of Freedom" in a 360° movie theater that will make you relive the feelings of the Allied soldiers in first hours of D-Day.
Then proceed to the German coastal artillery battery Longues sur Mer, which played a vital role in the D-Day landings firing on the Allied shipping, to see the canons and bunkers of Longues (the only coastal batteries that are still in the same spot where they were when the fired on the Allies on D-Day).
Drive to Port en Bessin, the Petrol Harbor where one of the pipelines of the Allies came out, for a very nice lunch in a great fish and sea food restaurant. After lunch, we visit the American Cemetery of Saint Laurent at Colleville then drive to Omaha beach to see the remains of the German bunkers that will give you a very realistic vision of the difficulties of the American soldiers that landed there.
To finish the tour, visit of the Pointe du Hoc, the biggest feat of arms of the Americans on D-Day, where Colonel James Rudder and his Rangers accomplished a memorable feat of arms on the cliffs on June the 6th 1944. This is visually without doubt the most impressive spot of the Landing Beaches.
