On the way to Giverny, your guide will give you an introduction to the life and work of Claude Monet. You will stop at the cemetery to visit Monet's tomb before going on a guided visit of his house and gardens of Monet. There will be time for coffee and cake at the Cafe Baudy, the former residence of the American painters Whistler, Metcalf, Robinson, Sargent, Mary Cassatt as well as Renoir and Cezanne, or cider and goat cheese tasting at a nearby farm.
Then drive along the Route des Cretes, where you will enjoy the exceptional view over the Seine valley. You will see a 9th century watchtower built at the time of the Viking invasion, the chateau of La Roche Guyon that became Erwin Rommel's headquarters during World War II, the village of Vetheuil where Monet spent the three hardest years of his life, and the Mantes la Jolie and its 12th century Gothic cathedral.
After an eventful day, you will head for the highway back to Paris.
