During the Renaissance period, the Loire valley was the favorite place of the kings of France and their courtiers. They left us many castles of amazing architectural elegance. Art and history mingle with a certain sweetness of life in this country called "The Garden of France."
The tour crosses the southern districts of Paris to the Aquitaine motorways. Upon arriving at the Loire Valley, guests will visit three Renaissance castles. The chateaus visited will vary depending on the season.
The chateaus visited are:
Amboise Castle
Widely acknowledged as the symbol of the French Renaissance style of architecture, Amboise Castle was designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Visitors will be able to view his inventions at Clos Luce, where he used to live.
Chenonceau
Chenonceau is also called "Le Château des Dames" or Women's Castle because it is famous for its women. King Henri II built it for his favorite Diane de Poitiers but his widow eventually took hold of the estate after the king died in a tournament.
Cheverny
The Castle of Cheverny was inspired by the Luxembourg Palace in Paris. It is a private property and its collection of 17th century furnishings are intact and well-preserved.
Chambord
Chambord is an impressive estate, built by King Francois I in collaboration with Leonardo da Vinci. It is a grandiose creation, famous for the inventor's design, 440 rooms, a unique roof terrace and aits double staircase.
